Directions: Parent, please read and then initial each statement. Thank you.
_____ I understand my child receives his/her packet work sheets every week on Tuesday or Thursday or Saturday as directed by their schedule. There are no make-up classes, but if I cannot make it to class, I can call and have my child’s work set out for me to pick up at my convenience.
_____ I understand my child needs “daily, quiet, study time” (10-15 minutes per packet per day) and a good learning environment to master the level concepts. In order to achieve mastery, I understand that my child may have repetitions of the same material.
_____I will hold my child accountable for their Kumon at home by ensuring they are doing their work daily, making corrections independently, and attending class weekly.
_____ I understand that it is my responsibility to grade my child’s packet daily and give it back to him/her to make necessary corrections. I will not write in the correct answers or try to “teach” my child Kumon, but instead let my child learn independently.
_____I will keep all grade books, solution manuals, and calculators out of my student’s reach while they are doing Kumon. This is a proactive approach that helps to eliminate temptation from a child.
_____ I understand “vacation request” forms are located in the Parent Information binder in the lobby. Once completed, the form needs to be returned to the office.
_____I will do my best to attend the Parent conferences. This is an excellent opportunity for me to discuss my child’s progress and goals, as well as a chance for me to discuss our Kumon regimen at home.
_____I will check my child’s Kumon bag weekly for correspondence and will read my monthly newsletter that I will receive monthly.
_____I understand that my child’s instructor is not available for me during class time. I know that if I need to discuss anything that I can call the center or email on non-class days.
_____ I will be supportive of my Kumon student and help encourage them to be an independent learner by praising them and celebrating their successes with them. I will also be a source of encouragement when he/she is frustrated or has been introduced to a new concept.
