Center Updates
Kumon Center of Almaden
May 2, 2012
Dear Kumon Families,
With the beginning of the summer everything is bustling with excitement, and this time of year is busy for everyone!
Exciting changes are coming up in Kumon as well, as we continue our goal of providing a suitable learning environment for each student and ensuring that each student receives the attention that he or she needs in order to succeed.
Starting June 4
th
, 2012, we will be requesting students to come at scheduled times.
Students will have 30 minutes per subject
. By scheduling times, we will make your Kumon visits more predictable and the students' Center experience more positive and productive. This will also enable us to give consistent service to each of our students. As such, we are asking you to choose a 30-minute time slot if your child does one subject and a 60-minute time slot if your child does both math and reading. Please note that our new extended Center hours will be 3-7pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Time slots for students attending the center twice a week do not have to be the same for each day ie, Monday at 3:30 and Wednesday at 4:30pm is okay. Note:
The latest sign-up time for 2 subjects is 6:00 and for 1 subject is 6:30 pm.
We promise to accommodate your first choice,
but
times will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis. Please return the slip on the bottom asap or latest by May 18
th
. You may also send an email at
kumonalmaden@gmail.com
communicating your desired time slot.
Once you select your time, we will expect your child to attend class as scheduled. If your child comes earlier or later than the scheduled time, we will ask him/ her to exchange the homework and complete the assignment for that day at home. Nevertheless, in good faith very effort will be made to accommodate him/her as a one time-special circumstance.
Of course, we understand that schedules change, and we will make every effort to accommodate both permanent and temporary changes in your schedule. If you need to change your schedule, either temporarily or permanently, please leave a voicemail or text 569-6284 before 2:30pm on your scheduled day. We will make every effort to find an opening that fits with your schedule.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. In order to make this work super efficiently, we would like to request that students arrive at the center and be ready to complete their work within one minute of entering the Center- which means bringing sharpened pencils and erasers.
I value your input and suggestions, and I would be happy to discuss this decision with you. I look forward to watching your children continue to grow and reaching their full potential. .
Best regards,
Ruby Vaswani

· If your child studies 2 subjects, he/she will need to be scheduled for 2 slots and should arrive by 6:00 pm.
· The 30 minute time slot is a guideline; your child may take slightly less or more time to complete class work / any corrections. Please wait for your child in case he/she finishes early. Thanks!

How to Enroll Your Child
Step 1
Call the center to book a free Parent Orientation and Placement Test for your child.
Step 2
Attend the Parent Orientation, and have your child take the placement test.
Meet with your instructor to learn about Kumon’s individualized learning method, and review the results from your child’s placement test.
Step 3
Review your child’s progress goal plan.
Based on your child’s placement test results, the instructor will create a two-year academic plan to help your child reach his or her goals.
Step 4
Enroll your child.
Students will attend the center twice a week, and complete daily assignments at home. Your instructor will design an individualized lesson plan for your child that will be monitored, and changed as needed to be sure he or she is on track to reach his or her goals.
Step 5
Schedule your 30-day post-enrollment meeting.
Your instructor will set a date to meet with your family after 30 days of enrollment to evaluate your child’s performance and ensure the program is going smoothly.
