About the Instructor

Hello!  My name is Susan Courtney Kundu.  Congratulations on seeking out more information about how the Kumon method can enrich your child's education.  As a Kumon student, your child can look forward to academic success and increased self - confidence.  Progressing through an individualized program will ignite a love of learning and independence which will last a lifetime.  As the instructor, I will serve as a mentor, providing support, guidance and encouragement along their path to success.  Helping children learn and grow is my passion.  I look forward to meeting your family.

Biography and Background

We all know that getting ahead starts with "getting it."  That's where Kumon and I can help.  In addition to being an extensively trained Kumon instructor, I am a certified elementary educator (grades 1 - 8) and reading specialist (grades K - 12).  I have taught fourth grade and first grade in both private and public schools as well as worked as a private tutor. At home, I have three school - aged children and have been married for 14 years. You can rest assured that I can relate to the concerns of families. I look forward to introducing yours to Kumon.  The Kumon method is singular in its ability to improve academic ability, confidence and work skills which last a lifetime, so your child meets every challenge with "Yes, I can."

Training and Certification

I believe that learning is a life - long pursuit.  I am a graduate of Kent State University with both Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees.  My training as a Kumon instructor is continually refined and deepened through online learning opportunities, monthly instructor meetings and annual instructors' conferences.  In addition, I take 9 hours of post - graduate coursework every four years to keep my Ohio teaching license current.  My ability to support and mentor my Kumon students is strengthened by so often placing myself in the role of learner.
