Your Children’s Summer Reading Book List

Thimble Summer by Elizabeth Enright

During the summer, help your children sustain and bolster their reading skills, strengthen their vocabulary and reinforce the benefits of reading for enjoyment. Enrolling your children in Kumon throughout the summer is one way to help them combat summer learning loss. This also continues to build their academic foundation so t they will be well-prepared for the next school year.

This summer, encourage your children to read books from the Kumon Recommended Reading List based on their current Kumon Reading Level. Not only do these books complement the Kumon Reading program, but they also help encourage children to explore various genres and styles that highlight a variety of themes. The Kumon Recommended Reading List contains 380 books designed to help your children develop a lifelong love for reading. Many of the books on the RRL have won literary awards such as the Newbery and Caldecott Medals, the Pulitzer Prize, and the National Book Award. To get your family started, here’s a list of our favorite books to read this summer. Be sure to let us and your Kumon Instructor know which of these books are your children’s favorites.
