About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

My name is Renuka Subramanian and I am your child's Kumon Instructor. I have an MS in CIS from University of Michigan, Dearborn. I enrolled my daughter in Kumon while looking to challenge and grow her interest in Math back in 1996. Completing the Math and Reading programs had opened many possibilities in high school and college. Completing the program 3 or 4 years ahead of grade level, freed up a lot of homework time during high school and enabled them to take AP classes and participate in sports and co-curricular activities after school.

They both were National Merit Finalists. Today, my daughter is a tenure track professor and son is an Aerospace Engineer in a fortune 100 company. I opened the doors to accept students in this location and guide them through the Kumon Method on September 5th, 2011. My team consists of high achieving high school, college and or my own former program completers. As a team, we are looking forward to helping your child achieve his/her true potential through the Kumon Method!

Training and Certification

Prior to becoming a Kumon instructor, I worked as a Resource Associate for Department of Education Project in Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. I was involved in training schoolteachers in the use of computers and educate their students to use the computers.

Motherhood propelled me to become a Computer Science Teacher at a local school until I migrated overseas with my husband. I volunteered in my children's schools as I was pursuing my graduate studies in United States. This gives me an insight in various teaching methodologies and learning styles of students across three nations. This pivots me in observing my students and learn from them to better guide them.
