About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Dr. Charles A. Guilford, III is a 20 year practitioner that has served in various capacities, roles, and leadership within multiple public-school districts and non-profit organizations. He has served as an educator at the K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels. Dr. Guilford possesses a passion for working with young people and assisting them with fulfilling their full potential. He chose to take over the Aspen Hill-Wheaton Kumon center because he wants to work with young scholars to equip them with the necessary skills to be successful in the future. He recognizes the earlier students are guided, the more likely they are to master academic skills. Utilizing a combination of compassion, rapport, and accountability, Dr. Guilford will serve as a guide and coach for our primary/young learners.

His personal and professional experiences have fostered his desire to lead the Aspen Hill Kumon Center. Dr. Guilford holds a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, a Master in the Art of Teaching from Bowie State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Delaware State University. He is a published author, accomplished presenter, program developer & evaluator, and relied upon mentor/advisor for many in the national & international educational field. He is well equipped to continue the success of our Kumon Center and looks forward to working with each of our students and parents.
