Kumon Instructor: Peggy Siu
1) How did you first learn about Kumon?
My good friend owned a Kumon center, and she gave me a brief introduction about the program.
2) Why did you decide to become an Instructor/Kumon Owner?
I wanted my kids to benefit from the advantageous, valuable learning opportunities provided by the Kumon program. Moreover, I also wanted to spread the Kumon experience more throughout the community by helping others take advantage of the Kumon program too.
3) What is your career/educational background?
Prior to becoming a Kumon instructor, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Hong Kong University. I spent 8 years working as accountant while volunteering at private schools and teaching along the side.
4) What is the best part of being a Kumon Instructor?
I love watching my students master new mathematical and reading skills. It’s always exciting to see students achieve their personal goals in Kumon. It is a great privilege to be able to help my students achieve their full academic potential through the Kumon program.
5) Why are families enrolling in your Kumon Center?
I believe that it’s my responsibility to get to know my students and their families on a comfortable, personal level. I feel that it is very important that my students and their families and I see eye to eye on their concerns and experiences regarding Kumon. I want to understand their academic needs and accept any suggestions that will make the Kumon experience more effective for them. I make it a conscious effort to visit with parents to check on how their children are absorbing the Kumon experience and to answer any questions they may have. It’s a blessing to be able help families benefit from the Kumon program by getting to know them on a comfortable, personal level.
