About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

My name is Monique Smith and I am so pleased at your family's interest in my center. I believe strongly in the Kumon Method and wish to share it with the children in the community.

My journey with Kumon began at the age of 4. My parents enrolled me in the Kumon program with the hope of improving my ability to read, calculate mentally, think critically and to articulate my thoughts and opinions clearly. They wanted me to have a strong foundation of learning and Kumon, in addition to their encouragement, brought these positive outcomes.

My story with Kumon, as an instructor, is unique in that, I have had the opportunity to see Kumon from the perspective of a student, staff and now the instructor. I completed the program in my teenage years and while it was not an easy task, it was entirely worth the lessons learned and the skills attained. I returned to Kumon to become an instructor with the hope that I could facilitate that same positive outcome for the students of our community. With so many students struggling to catch up or being left behind, there is a need, especially now, for supplemental learning and it is my honor to be able to be that bridge for the strong foundation that so many students have not had access to previously.
