About the Instructor

Introduction

My name is Charlie Leung, and before I became a Kumon Instructor I was a Kumon student.

When I first started school, I didn't perform well academically at all. At some point, my academic progress at school was so poor that even though I was born in the States, my teacher (at the time) asked my mother if I was an immigrant.

This (un)fortunate event caused my mother to seek more help even though I was already enrolled in other after school programs, and that is when she stumbled across Kumon.

Within a month of enrollment, my GPA (grade point average) went from a 40 to a 85, and within 8 months, my GPA shot past 95. Seeing this instant change, I stayed enrolled for 7 years while maintaining that average.

Kumon was so effective that my other two siblings enrolled in the program, and because I was so inspired by the program considering how it changed my life, I decided to try to become a Kumon Instructor to help struggling students in Dyker Heights, the exact area where I grew up.

Becoming a Kumon Instructor wasn't easy, there were many hurdles that I had to overcome to get to where I am, and I still face many challenges even today, but my personal mission has never changed.

I still strive to provide the best service as an instructor and help students become the best version of themselves. (while reaching the top of their classes in the process)
