Anaya's Story
At only 7 years old, Anaya has already seen more of the world than most adults. She loves traveling and learning about different cultures. She also loves playing guitar, singing in the choir, acting on stage, and studying advanced mathematics. Anaya credits her Kumon study for making her more confident and intelligent in school. Studying several years above her grade level in reading and math has given her the confidence to become a leader among her peers. What Anaya’s parents love most is that Kumon has given her the discipline to balance her academic and creative endeavors while being a considerate and loving child.
Resilience in the classroom and on the mound
Sometimes, it’s hard to tell which the more impressive feat is: striking out hitters during the big game or solving simultaneous equations as a 4th grader! For Camden, it’s just a normal part of being a kid.
Camden’s Kumon journey began when he was a first grade student struggling to get started in school. After a friend recommended our Brownsburg Center to his mom, he began studying both math and reading. In that first year of studying math, he discovered he had a real talent. In no time at all, his friends at school noticed his skills and recognized his speed and accuracy while solving math problems. The confidence he gained while study math helped him take on new challenges in reading thus developing him into a well-rounded student.
More importantly, the resilience and bravery he’s discovered while learning more independently in high level topics (such as working with linear equation and inequalities) helps him take on challenges in many areas of his life. He knows that learning requires consistent effort and the self-reflection necessary to make each mistake a learning opportunity. Camden understands that everyone strikes out from time to time, but a good hitter improves his/her skill through each at bat.
