Hello! My name is Poorvi Shah and I am the instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Brooklin - Winchester & Baldwin. My Kumon journey started as a Kumon parent. Both my kids started near the beginning of their academic careers, first and third grade. Quickly, I saw the benefits in my children's learning abilities and how it helped my kids progress in school. It provided them with their academic fundamentals, while also enriching their knowledge, and at times, it challenged them as they moved further in their Kumon journey. Both of my kids went on to finish one or both programs by eighth grade. However their Kumon journey did not end there. My eldest is now at UofT studying math, and my younger one is in eleventh grade. You will see the two of them around the centre or virtually, as assistants, making this a full circle.
I have completed my Masters in Accounting and Business, however working in education was always my passion. I pursued this by working at various Kumon Centres for over a decade. Through these experiences, I have learned a lot and will continue to learn more, so that I am able to help my students be successful and confident, to the best of my abilities.
My goal is to bring out a sense of accomplishment and confidence to the students at my Centre while helping them develop discipline and strong work habits, which is the base of the Kumon method. I can ensure this by creating individualized study plans and monitoring their progress throughout the journey, making sure they reach their full potential.
