About the Instructor

Introduction

I am extremely passionate about making a difference in learning for future generations and empowering them to prepare for academic challenges ahead in their learning journey. I am Samina Muqarab serving as a mentor/instructor guiding my students through their work while providing direction, support, and encouragement. I always learn from my students, discover their level of academic ability and continuously provide them with worksheets suitable to their respective ability levels. I constantly ensure that students experience a sense of achievement in their daily study, which helps them enjoy studying and enables them to enhance their ability independently. Through observing students’ learning situations, I become keenly aware of how students are changing and improving, and search for things that will aid in their future instructions.

Biography and Background

Samina M Instructors Conference

I am so proud and humbled to be a part of my very dear students’ Kumon journey. My experience with the Kumon Program began in 2015.Many of my friends have seen substantial benefits by enrolling their children in the Kumon Program. My children made excellent progress as well when I enrolled them in Kumon. By seeing the tremendous benefits it provides to children first-hand, I have become a strong believer in the Kumon method and its philosophy. My husband, Khadim Shah, who is also an Instructor at Kumon Nolan Hill, is a huge support in my Kumon journey, and working as a team we believe in the mantra: "Practice makes perfect" and urge all students to adopt a growth mindset in learning to achieve their goal.

I enjoy learning new things because it enables me to see things from a student's perspective and understand the emotional side of what it means to learn from mistakes. In my spare time, I love quiet morning walks, exercising, reading books, and listening to podcasts about mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. My lifelong goal is to become a source of making a difference in people’s lives.

Training and Certification

Before becoming a Kumon instructor, I taught prep-biology classes to nursing students at Columbia College Calgary, and GED(high school equivalency courses) to young adults at PSDN Calgary. I also worked as a math and science teacher with the Calgary Board of Education.
