About the Instructor

A Mentor and Coach at heart

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, Leo serves as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. He creates an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and he emphasizes the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of his students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, Leo has a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

After being in Corporate America for over 20 years, he finds educating and mentoring kids the most fulfilling. He believes communication between himself and you, the parents, are vital to the success of the students. Leo Alvarez

Leo Alvarez is the owner and Instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Castle Rock - Plum Creek. Kumon is the world's largest and most successful after school program in math and reading for kids 3-18 years of age. After spending most of his professional years in Corporate America, Leo decided to leave and pursue a more meaningful and fulfilling path.

Married for 20 years, Leo has a teenage daughter, a dog and cats. His daughter is currently a Kumon student and enrolled in the International Baccalaureate at the local high school.

In his off hours, he enjoys playing recreational soccer, mountain biking and spending time with his family.

Strong supporter of education

Leo received his Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Bogota, Colombia. He then later came to the U.S. to study English, receive his Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master in Science of International Business. He is also a certified Kumon Instructor.

After a successful 20 year run in Corporate America, Leo decided to embark on a new career and journey. He is a trained, certified and licensed franchisee owner of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Castle Rock - Plum Creek after having successfully completing the training program in 12 months.
