My name is Tera Shah, in October 2005 I opened up the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Chesapeake - Greenbrier. For the past 15 years, it has been my pleasure to be known as “Ms. Tera” to all of the students I serve at our location. I am native to the Hampton Roads Area and live here with my husband and two children. I attended Old Dominion University earning my undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and I hold a Master of Science in Education. Prior to becoming a Kumon Instructor, I spent 4 years as a classroom teacher in Virginia Public Schools. As a first year teacher, I was chosen to attend the National Reading Conference in San Francisco and was the only First Year Teacher attendee at the conference that year!
I have worked in the education field for my entire professional career and I am very passionate about my work. For a brief time after my husband and I married, we left the area for a career opportunity. During that time, I had to leave my teaching job and I was introduced to the Kumon Program. After learning more about Kumon, I returned to the Hampton Roads Area to open the Chesapeake - Greenbrier location and embarked on an amazing journey of serving students in our Math & Reading Program.
In addition to being the Kumon Director at the Center of Chesapeake - Greenbrier, I am also a Kumon Parent! I love sharing with new families how the Kumon Program has helped both of my children grow academically. Helping each student become a self-learner and reach their individual best is a highlight of my work. I love sharing this program with new families and I never tire of the opportunity work with new students!
