About the Instructor

Welcome to Kumon of Clarks Summit! Here, your child will learn how to learn independently. Kumon is an academic program like no other. Instead of passively receiving instruction from teachers or tutors, Kumon students actively develop self-learning skills. The role of a Kumon Instructor is to discover each student’s level of academic ability and continually provide students with worksheets that are suitable to their respective ability levels.

My name is Rati Kanani and I am the certified Kumon Instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Clarks Summit. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I personally create an individualized at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed. I am here to listen, help and guide you through this proven program that is sure to bring your child success!

I have been a certified Instructor for the Kumon of Clarks Summit since 2018. Prior to opening my Kumon center, I worked for a non-profit geology company in the petroleum industry for five years before moving to Pennsylvania. I was introduced to Kumon in 2002 when I became a Kumon student myself. I studied Kumon throughout middle school and high school, which greatly contributed to my academic success. Additionally, during my undergraduate years, I served as an assistant at a local Kumon center focusing mainly on higher level math. 

As a strong advocate for education, my goal is not only to help my students excel academically, but also to instill a love of learning and to increase their confidence, self-motivation, stamina and perseverance. I am truly passionate and knowledgeable about the Kumon method and sincerely love helping children learn and grow. Seeing each student's growth and unlocking their potential has been one of my greatest joys. I look forward to helping more students gain a solid foundation that will allow them to pursue any path in life. 

Communication is a huge part of your child's success. Parent conferences are available all year round and I make myself accessible to all parents outside of class hours.
