About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, Andrew Kim serves as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an individualized at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame.  The goal for each student maybe slightly different but whether they need help catching up or are working on more advanced work, I aim to keep them motivated and build their self-confidence.  Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.  I love the process of seeing kids realize just how smart and capable they truly are because ultimately, I want them to help create a better world.

Biography and Background

Andrew Kim grew up in Oceanside, NY and graduated from Rennsalaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Industrial and Management Engineering.  Corporate life left him uninspired, so he began working towards his education degree at Queens College.  The plan was to become a high school physics teacher. Along the way he began working at Kaplan Test Prep helping students prepare for their SATs and ACTs.  An opportunity to join Kumon arose and found it to be a good match.
