About The Instructor
Dr. Love Gist grew up in Dallas, TX and earned her Bachelor's degree at The University of Texas in Austin. She attended The University of Houston's College of Optometry (UHCO) where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree.
She began her optometry career as a United States Naval Officer by providing eye care to military members and their dependents at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. While serving in the U.S Navy, she was deployed on the USNS Mercy for a six month humanitarian mission. There, she cared for patients from Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea. She has also mentored optometry students from Southern California College of Optometry, Pacific University College of Optometry and University of Houston College of Optometry to help improve their clinical skills.
As a dedicated Kumon Instructor, she is passionate about fostering a love for learning in her students. With 6yrs of experience in teaching future optometrists, she loves the idea of helping children develop strong math and reading skills through the Kumon method. She believes in the potential of every student and strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment where they can thrive. Her approach combines personalized learning plans with consistent feedback to help students achieve their academic goals and build confidence in their abilities.
When she is not guiding students in their studies, she enjoys pilates, snowboarding and traveling with her 3 sons. She is very excited to be a part of your child's learning journey!
