About the Instructor

My name is Bernadette Burgert. I am the instructor at the Calgary Silverado Shopping Centre Kumon. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Before becoming an instructor and entrepreneur, I travelled the world working in Hotels, Resorts and Cruise ships. For almost 20 years I managed small and large properties from the North Pole to Senegal, South America to Caribbean and various cities in Australia. I LOVE people and languages so I make an effort to practice them (Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, and French).

In 2005 I went to Australia to complete my MBA … and ended up staying for 17 years!

My career pivoted towards education and training, preparing the future professionals in my industry to the next level! I’ve worked in universities and tertiary organizations for 11 years in various capacities.
