About the Instructor

Introduction

My goal as a Kumon Instructor is to bring the Kumon method to as many families as possible. I strongly believe in the benefits of the program and I want to see as many children as possible be successful and confident. Many children struggle academically or are not getting enough from their classes at school, and Kumon's individualized program can help a child progress at their own speed and ability.

I am so excited to be able to bring our virtual classes to Canadians and am looking forward to helping families reach their goals.

Biography and Background

Shann Bio Photo

My name is Shann Lucero and my love for learning began at an early age.  I come from a family of educators and have a passion for working with children!  I was an elementary teacher for over a year with the Calgary Public School district.  After that, I pivoted to supplemental education working as a tutor for Sylvan Learning Centre in 2008-2013, later promoting to Director of Education.

My Kumon journey began in 2013 when I was hired on to operate the corporately-owned centre in Calgary AB.  During my tenure as Instructor, I developed a deep appreciation for the Kumon method and philosophy, observing it work firsthand with over 300 of my own students!  Eventually, with the knowledge and acumen gained from managing the centre for over 2 years, I landed a position with the Kumon Prairies regional office in 2016.  As a Field Consultant, I oversaw a territory of 20 franchisees to develop independent Kumon centres located in Calgary, Edmonton, and Saskatoon.

I am truly delighted to embark on this new chapter as Instructor of Canada's Virtual Kumon Centre.  I am looking forward to providing the gift of Kumon to even more students online!
