A Mom's Thank You to Kumon - Robyn's Story

Robyn Success Story

Robyn began her Kumon journey in August of 2021 as a grade 6 student. A couple of years back, she was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder. During the testing process it was discovered that she had a math-related learning difficulty that was causing her to fall behind. For this reason, we sought out Kumon. We live in a small rural town in Canada far away from any physical Kumon location, so virtual study is a convenient way for my daughter to get extra help. Now, Robyn’s teachers tell us if I hadn’t told them they would never know there was a learning difficulty!

On a recent report card Robyn scored all 4’s and P’s (the highest grades you can get) and her teachers even commented on how good she is at math. I was pleased to hear that Robyn often drops what she’s doing to help her friends who are stuck with math problems!  This kid who hated math, and struggled regularly, has now been studying her multiplication tables (even in double digits!) so she can do the new group of Kumon worksheets more easily. She’s even made notes and study sheets for herself.

You have NO IDEA what a big deal this is for us. Even though at one point we were almost ready to give up because Robyn was fighting us all the time and she really disliked doing daily study. Now, we tell her it’s time to do Kumon, and instead of arguing we get “Okaaaaaay!”  She sees the value in it FINALLY. All our praise, your praise, your assistant’s praise, her teachers and friends’ praise has given Robyn something we struggled with for ten years. We thank Kumon for that boost!
