I started Kumon in third grade and I strongly believe that it was the catalyst to all of my academic success. At Kumon I learned from a young age to push myself to be the best student I could be. Through the years I learned to appreciate the importance of diligence and dedication. As a younger student, Kumon gave me a strong mathematical foundation that gave me confidence in the classroom. From there, it exposed me to more complex problems that required me to exercise creativity and problem-solving. In doing so, it shifted my perception of math from an intangible medium to something dynamic and fun that I was eager to explore. I continue to use the “Kumon Method” with all my other fields of study. Whenever I study, I revisit my mistakes and use them as opportunities to grow.
I still appreciate the Kumon staff and the knowledgeable help I was able to receive from Ms. Feng, Mr. Joe, Noah and Bram throughout my Kumon journey. The faculty made me excited to come to the Kumon center each week and it differentiated this Kumon from other academic settings. My experience with the Kumon faculty inspired me to look for ways to help others with mathematics in my community. I even came back to the center to become part of the Kumon staff as well!
I am extremely glad that I had the opportunity to complete both the Kumon Math and Reading Programs.
Maahi
Maahi was introduced to Kumon at an early age when she was only four years old. Her uncle completed the Reading Program at our center 10 years ago which makes Maahi a second-generation Kumon student! Maahi’s mother, Mona, is a strong believer in the Kumon Program, and worked as a Kumon Assistant 15 years ago. Mona worked with us each week to ensure that Maahi gets the best out of the Kumon Program.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maahi completed her math and reading worksheets everyday. Her hard work paid off as Maahi jumped from the kindergarten level to the first grade in both subjects! Maahi is always seen in the center with a smile and enjoys completing the worksheets. Her positive attitude extends outside of Kumon as well! Maahi also chose to donate her tooth fairy money to a local hospital this year to provide snacks for front line workers. With her kindness and dedication, she is a true inspiration to everyone in the program.
Tyler
Tyler completed the Kumon Reading Program in January 2020 after seven years of study. He has read literature at the 12th grade level including Shakespeare and other classics before entering high school.
Furthermore, Tyler is in level M for math, studying trigonometry and advanced analytic geometry. We can still remember when Tyler first walked into the center in the first grade. We couldn’t be more proud of his growth and achievement.
Tyler
Congratulations to Tyler for completing the Reading Program!
Siddarth
Siddarth has earned the level G by 4th-grade achievement in the Kumon Math Program. He has been enrolled in Kumon since 2016 and has been a model student since. His diligence and work ethic towards Kumon can be seen in his homework! His teachers say that he carefully writes out each step with great handwriting! Armed with the skills he has gained through Kumon, Siddarth is even able to help his younger sister with her math homework as well. Siddarth says that even though difficult math problems can seem disheartening at first, through practice they are made easier and more fun. He is very proud of what he has completed and knows that it will help him later in the future! We are so proud of Siddarth!
Mandy

Congratulations to Mandy for completing the Kumon Reading Program.
Mandy started back in 2011 when she was only four years old. Since then she has taken 26 achievement tests. She said that her time in Kumon passed so quickly that she had not realized how many tests there have been along the way. She can still remember her first Kumon test, which assessed her ability to pronounce the letters of the alphabet. On her final test, she had to write critically about Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. Mandy is proud of her growth and results. She has said that completing the Reading Program is an outstanding achievement. We could not agree more.
Furthermore, Mandy did the Kumon Math Program. It helped her to stay ahead of her school work every year. She also thinks the Reading Program helped her to expand her vocabulary and critical thinking.
In all aspects of her life, Mandy was able to see the tangible consequences of her time well spent at Kumon. Though her journey here is ending, we are sure she will continue to do great things in the future.
Ethan
Congratulations to Ethan for completing the Reading Program!
Derek
Congratulations to Derek for completing level J in reading. Throughout the pandemic he continued to work hard and show persistence. He is very diligent about completing his homework every day and is a model Kumon student. He is determined to complete the entire Reading Program by the end of 2020.
Sachitaa
When Sachitaa completed the Kumon Math Program in December 2018, she was the #1 student in the Kumon Math Program for her grade level in North America. She said that Kumon introduced her to "lots of fun concepts like differential calculus and geometric proofs". She enjoyed learning so much that she completed the Kumon X level. The X level corresponds to college level statistics. We were so excited to see Sachitaa proactively pursuing higher level learning! Sachitaa went on to compete in Mu Alpha Theta, where she placed highly in Algebra and Geometry at the regional and statewide levels. In 8th grade, Sachitaa placed in the top 5% nationally in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC). She said "overall, Kumon has made me a better mathematician while always challenging me along the way". She is glad to have learned math in such a fun and supportive setting!
Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2018!
These young adults hold a special place in my heart. They have been with me since 2010 when I first started Kumon. They have since finished their Kumon studies, but they have continued to come back and share their successes with me. Through the years, I have watched these young budding students become mature and upstanding adults. The Kumon staff and I are so proud of their achievements and cannot wait to see what their bright future holds for them. Below are their Kumon stories.
Warmest Wishes,
Ms. Feng

I started Kumon in elementary school, and even from the very beginning, I could tell that Kumon was making a positive impact on my academics. When I first went to middle school, I didn't join the math club, but the Kumon Math Program helped me gain confidence in my math skills and I decided to join in 7th grade. Since then, I've competed and been successful in numerous math competitions. One of the great aspects of Kumon is that it first made sure that I had a strong and comprehensive understanding of the basics, and once I demonstrated that I did, I was then introduced to more complex concepts and problems. Kumon helped me to develop an effective way of thinking and solving problems, a useful and necessary skill. I also learned to foster less tangible characteristics such as responsibility, persistence, and good time management. Looking back at the past few years, I'm very grateful to have been able to attend Kumon and benefit from this program.

I attended Kumon for 9 years, from kindergarten to eighth grade. Although I didn’t realize it at first, Kumon helped place me years ahead of my classmates throughout elementary and middle school. I was able to breeze through my math work without any problems, with time to spare to help others around me who needed it. I gained reading comprehension and critical thinking skills many grades above the intended level for me, and developed a strong vocabulary that would become extremely useful in writing papers. Outside of the classroom, the advantage Kumon gave me allowed me to place in several competitions at the regional, state, and national level. Aside from the evident academic benefits, Kumon also taught me countless life skills necessary to my high school and future success, such as learning independently, managing my time, and flourishing in a competitive environment. After joining American Heritage School on a full scholarship, I built upon the solid foundation Kumon provided me with in order to excel in math competitions, achieve top 1% scores on all standardized tests, and maintain straight A’s while balancing various activities. I will be attending Rice University this fall as part of a combined medical program, with a guaranteed seat at Baylor College of Medicine.

Kumon has been a part of my life for several years now. Sharpening my knowledge in math and encouraging me to take a genuine interest in learning, Kumon has been a core factor not only in my development as a student, but also as a person. When I first started Kumon, I was reluctant to spend my time after school practicing higher-level math. As I look back now; however, I find that Kumon greatly shaped the way my mind works by encouraging logical and systematic thinking. It enriched my understanding of mathematics by providing me with encouraging Instructors and instilling patience into my learning. Now, as I graduate and head to college in hope of becoming a doctor one day, I am certain that Kumon gave me more than just academic knowledge; it taught me the important traits of hard work and perseverance that will benefit me throughout my life.

After reflecting on my years in Kumon, I found that there is more to this program than just math concepts and reading skills. I learned life lessons that have carried me to where I am today. Through my time in Kumon, I was taught skills that are essential to success no matter what area of study or work one chooses in life. All those days of doing worksheets that seemed meaningless taught me persistence, dedication, and ultimately gave me a hunger for success. I learned that nothing can be accomplished without a tenacious work ethic. If I want my music to excel, I need to diligently work on my musical pieces and skill. If I want to maintain my grades in school, I need to set apart time to study and prepare even when I don't want to. Kumon taught me to hone my craft and have the mentality to always put my best foot forward. I was taught that in order to achieve great things, I needed to be consistent and to have an insatiable desire to succeed. With these traits I learned from Kumon, I know I can move forward with pride knowing that I gained much more from it than just knowledge.

When I barely tested at grade level in math and reading after kindergarten, my concerned mother immediately enrolled me in Kumon. When I first started the program, my main objective was to finish my worksheets as fast as I could so I could go play soccer. Over time, I realized that Kumon wasn’t just about mindlessly completing worksheets and memorizing numbers. By visiting the center twice a week and completing my worksheets at home, I slowly strengthened my math skills and learned concepts that wouldn’t be introduced for two to three years in school. The problem solving techniques my instructor, Mr. Joe, taught me propelled me to breeze through the most challenging math classes offered in my school. I continued to apply these critical thinking skills in all of my high school subjects and regularly ranked in state and national math and science competitions. I also attribute the years of practice at Kumon to scoring a perfect 800 on my math SAT and near perfect reading SAT. I recently graduated from high school and am now enjoying the fruits of my labor in Kumon. I plan to attend the University of Florida on a full academic scholarship where I plan to pursue my dream of becoming an oncologist.

I started the Kumon Math and Reading Program in the 4th grade. I had been good at math my entire life, but Kumon made me an exceptional math student and helped me in a multiplicity of other ways. Ms. Feng, Mr. Joe,and the entire staff instilled valuable lessons about hard work and practice that continue to help me in every aspect of my life. Most importantly, Kumon made me an independent learner who is self-motivated to continually improve and succeed. Kumon's unique progression system taught me to rely less on my teachers and more on my own self-determination to solve difficult tasks. I had the opportunity to graduate from American Heritage High School on a full scholarship. During my time there I continued to strive for excellence in school by joining a variety of clubs like Debate, Model United Nations, and Habitat for Humanity. I will be studying Economics at Duke University in the fall, and I can confidently say that Kumon was the largest contributor to my success.

"I am in the 7th grade and have been a Kumon student since kindergarten. Thanks to Kumon, I am excelling academically and I am breezing through the top math class offered at my school. Kumon has taught me not only math skills, but also how to be a self-learner. It has taught me good time management, strong study skills, and more advanced critical thinking. I am very grateful that the Kumon Center is near my house."
Rosa
From the perspective of one of our Kumon students:
"Kumon has academically benefited me in every way since I first started the Math and Reading Programs in 5th grade. Kumon emphasizes the skills of problem solving with speed and accuracy, allowing me to complete questions more quickly than traditional methods taught at school. It has also allowed me to stay ahead by learning new math concepts and interpreting different pieces of literature, all with a pace best suited for me.
Moreover, the staff is comprised of people who are very familiar with the work material and passionate about helping the students. In fact, most of the Kumon staff were previous students themselves! After reflecting on all that the program has taught me; I recognize that it truly played a huge role in my academic performance in school. Overall, Kumon has offered me a unique learning experience that I otherwise would not have had. I accomplished a lot during my time in middle school. which helped me get a scholarship to American Heritage."

Pierre
Pierre was the Kumon student chosen from this center to speak at the second annual Kumon Student Forum in 2018! The panelists were asked to talk about their personal experiences with Kumon, and answer questions from other students. Pierre eloquently spoke about what he liked most about Kumon and how he continues to push himself to do better in all aspects of his life.
Pierre has successfully completed the Kumon Math and Reading Programs in December of 2018. He is currently in 10th grade at American Heritage High School. He continues to engage himself with higher level mathematics by competing in his school's math club. Pierre won first place in the 2018 Regional FAMAT competition for Geometry-Individual.
Pierre learned time management at an early age! After finishing his academic activities, he schedules in time to practice his viola, attend and win several awards at music competitions. This year he was a state winner at the junior convention in Jacksonville.
We are all very proud of Pierre!
Yash
Yash completed both the Kumon Math and Reading Programs in the 8th grade. He started from the very beginning of Kumon at the age of 4. When he was younger, Yash struggled to stay motivated in Kumon. Nonetheless, his parents and Ms. Feng helped him to remain on the right track. Looking back, he is extremely glad that he stuck with it.
His time in the reading program helped him to hone his skills in public speaking in the future. With the extensive vocabulary he was exposed to, he is now able to develop intelligent speeches on short notice; a skill which he often uses while competing in speech and debate.
In middle school, Yash participated in the math club and even went to the Math Counts state competition. Yash says that his time spent in Kumon taught him how to better fill in gaps in knowledge and problem solve questions on the spot. He was able to place top 3 in competitions multiple times.
Now Yash has been accepted into American Heritage high school with a full scholarship! He said that Kumon prepared him well for his entrance exam. He is very proud to have placed in the competitive Pre-Calculus class as a freshman. Having already learned how to factor quartic and cubic polynomials in Kumon, the factoring questions on the entrance exam were trivial for him.
We are excited to see where Yash goes next!

Mudit
In our annual student survey this year, Mudit praised the Kumon staff for always being receptive and supportive. He wrote that Kumon inspired him to be a better person, and one who is driven to help his peers.
His mathematical proficiency in Kumon gives him the know-how to succeed in school. Mudit earned a four-year scholarship to American Heritage High School. This scholarship looks for students who were at the top of their middle school class, took several high school level courses, participated in extra-curricular activities, and exemplified leadership outside of the classroom. His knowledge from Kumon helped prepare him to take the scholarship test and become a well-rounded student.
We are very proud of Mudit and of his numerous achievements. We look forward to seeing his growth as he continues on his academic journey!
Zarina, Anisa, Nadia, and Adam
This beautiful family includes Adam (5), Nadia (10), Anisa (13) and Zarina (16). Adam, the youngest of the bunch, started Kumon when he was just 2 years old. Adam says he enjoys coming to Kumon and his favorite subject is math. He tackles addition and subtraction at a very quick pace. Adam can complete 20 math questions in 1 minute with a smile!
Zarina, Anisa, Nadia, and Adam = Kumon, Math, Reading, and Success
Sai
Sai has been enrolled at Kumon since September 2012. The 9-year-old is in 4th grade and recently he is working on J level which is Algebra 2. He started math doing (1 plus 1 = 2) and now 10 levels later he is introduced to advanced factoring methods, complex numbers, the discriminant, and the Factor and Remainder theorems (10th grade math). He really enjoys studying the Kumon worksheets, and is able to grasp the new concepts comfortably and confidently.
Sai completes his Kumon homework daily and believes it has helped him succeed in school. In fact, he is in a gifted 5th grade math class. In his free time, he loves playing football and tennis. His mom says that Sai is very motivated, smart, active, and well-behaved.
The Instructor and staff at the center notice his exceptional attitude and work ethic. He is persistent in his studies and is always eager to overcome new challenges. Sai is also able to apply previous knowledge to the new concepts with ease.
Congratulations to Sai! He has reached the milestone 'J by 6' - J level before 6th grade.
Gabriel - From the parental point of view.

"Gabriel first began Kumon in third grade, and realized his hidden potential for mathematics. He finished the program after five years and continued to work on college level math (Level X). Using the knowledge he gained from Kumon, Gabriel is able to skip courses in school and is taking Algebra 2 in eighth grade. After completing the Math Program, he has begun the Reading Program in January, 2015. He receives perfect scores in all of his standardized tests, places nationally in the Duke Tip program, and he is accepted to American Heritage on a full scholarship for four years of high school.
Kumon also teaches Gabriel many other life skills. He learns how to manage his time, and maintain accuracy and efficacy. Furthermore, Gabriel is able to juggle school clubs, band at his school, Kumon, and schoolwork. He also volunteers as an assistant in Kumon once a week. Thanks to Kumon, Gabriel thrives in a competitive environment and knows how to learn independently."
Eric
"I am a freshman in highschool and have been attending the Kumon Center in Davie, FL since the fourth grade. When I enrolled in Kumon, I felt that my math skills were average at best. Now, I am able to solve math problems four grade levels above me. This edge has allowed me to participate and place in every math competition I've entered since elementary school. The confidence that I have gained from Kumon is invaluable. It has helped me develop analytic skills and stand out as an extraordinary student. The educational foundation that I have from years of attending Kumon will help me to achieve my goal of attending medical school."
Tyler

Tyler is a 9-year-old 4th grader who has been attending Kumon for the last 2 years studying both math and reading. However, Kumon is not the only thing that Tyler makes time for. At school, he is an active member in his math club. He is also a skilled pianist, he even performed at Carnegie Hall in New York. And on top of that, Tyler has been playing and competing in golf since he was was 2 years old! When people ask Tyler how he manages his time to be able to do so many things at once, he says that it is because "I like everything!". He spends 45 minutes to an hour on his Kumon assignments everyday after school. It takes a lot of determination and persistence for him to get his work done and prioritize what he needs to do. Doing Kumon does not mean things get better instantly, students have to work hard and continue coming to class and doing homework to improve day by day. Tyler is a great example of a Kumon student who consistently keeps up with his work. And his hard work has paid off! Today he is a very successful student and continues to make great strides in his achievements in and out of school.
Way to go, Tyler!
Florence

"I started Kumon really late into middle school; however, it was one of the best academic decisions I have ever made. I liked to read but it wasn't at the academic level intended for me. The books that I read were for pleasure and didn't enhance my critical thinking skills. After starting Kumon Reading, I saw how much I could improve. I learned how to effectively use proper vocabulary in my essays. And I started reading passages from high quality books that really made me think like 'Pride and Prejudice'and 'Huckleberry Finn'. Through the Kumon Reading Program, my abilities to read critically and write persuasively have been strengthened.
The greatest result of my Kumon experience is my increased proficiency in taking standardized tests such as the ACT. I never had much confidence in my testing skills, but the Kumon worksheets helped me become more aware of timing and pacing myself through sections of work. To my surprise, I got a full score on the English portion of the ACT! If it wasn't for Kumon, I wouldn't be able to get where I am in school. Most importantly, I gained an irreplaceable love for reading."
Kayden
"My name is Kayden, my nickname is the "Master-brain". I am ten years old and I am doing Kumon Level K in Math (Linear and Quadratic Functions) and Kumon Level G in Reading (Theme and Summarization). The way Kumon works is like magic. I couldn't complete my day without doing my Kumon worksheets. I started Kumon at the age of 5 years old. And my math grades are off the charts! If it wasn't for Kumon, I would be struggling in school. The Kumon materials work on building a stronger foundation and makes school work easier. People who do Kumon learn math right and quickly. I'm sticking with Kumon- a no nonsense, proven system for more than 50 years. I have found Kumon to be an outstanding method. It is up to me to work hard to reach the stars and I will. It's all thanks to Ms. Feng and Mr. Joe."
Chey
"I commenced my Kumon Math journey during seventh grade, at the age of twelve. My primary interest when enrolling in Kumon was to thoroughly develop my knowledge of mathematics and to become efficient at solving complex equations that most of my peers could not unravel. After I started Kumon, I began to excel in mathematics which led to my success in math competitions and in class. Currently I am studying Kumon's Level L worksheets, which are equivalent to Calculus 1. However, being a teenager, my life and schedule are full of activities such as swimming and practicing guitar. This is when Kumon reveals to me one of its most important aspects. Through daily practice, I have quickly become more efficient at managing my time throughout the day, and overall become a more responsible person. I believe that Kumon has not only improved my academic adroitness, but also made me a better person overall."
Anik
"I am a second grader and I am doing the second level of paragraph building in Kumon. I started Kumon in Pre-K when I was four years old. Without Kumon I would not be good in reading. I am reading four grades higher than my current grade in school. That would not have happened if I didn't go to Kumon. I'm thankful for Ms. Feng for making me a better reader."

MahitaSai is 9 years-old and has been enrolled in Kumon for two years. Her goal is to finish level F (6th grade math) by July! Despite only being in the fourth grade, she is excited and motivated to learn. Kumon has made her more goal-oriented and she is working hard to reach pre-algebra by the end of fourth grade. She has learned the value of making mistakes and growing from them" an integral part of the Kumon Method.
In her survey response, MahitaSai wrote, "When I grow-up, I want to be a lawyer. Kumon is helping me become what I want to be because it teaches me new things every time I enter the center." From her time in the center, she has built academic confidence and strong and consistent study habits. We are all sure that Mahitasai will be able to take the skills that she has learned here to accomplish her dreams!
