About the Instructor

As an extensively trained, certified, and licensed professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Dr. Dex earned his PhD. degree in physics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before he joined Kumon, he was a scientist/engineer with 52 granted patents and 95 published papers. The Center was established in 2003 by Dr. SK Lo, and Dr. Dex became the center director and chief instructor in January 2017. Other staff members at the center are highly qualified, many with advanced degrees, who are assisted by excellent college and high school graders who have become role models for our students. They work with Dr. Dex to assist our students before and during class time. The key role of the instructors and staff is to motivate, guide, and instruct students in gaining skills, habits, independence,confidence, and self-learning abilities. Our class has an average student to staff ratio of 3 to 1.

Dr. Dex has completed all levels of training through Kumon University and is fully licensed for Math and English by Kumon North America.
