My Kumon journey began in 2008 when my older daughter was 7 years old. My sister and some of my friends had high school-aged children and I heard from them that their kids were often doing homework past midnight. I resolved to do whatever I could to make sure that my daughter never had to stay awake past midnight because of homework.
After doing some searching, I found a program named Kumon, which aimed to unlock every child's potential. Within just a short while of starting Kumon, she was already having an easier time in math and English and achieving at a higher level than before. Finishing both the Reading and Math programs gave her the skills she needed to tackle any subject in the classroom. Kumon's benefits were far beyond academic - Kumon taught her perseverance, time management and how to learn independently and build on her own knowledge. Seeing my daughter succeed through the program made me realize I wanted to help other kids do the same, and so I opened my first Kumon Center in 2013.
My goal for every student in my center is to unlock each student's potential and help them develop work and life skills which will prepare them for not only high school, but for a lifetime of learning.
