About the Instructor

Introduction

Hello, my name is Anastasia. I have been a Kumon instructor since January of 2015, and prior to that worked as a marker and assistant at Kumon. As an instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home, individualized study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. This is my ultimate goal for all my students. My true passion is education and I have an earnest desire to help children succeed; this is why I became an instructor in the first place.

What keeps me motivated to helping students is all of the success stories I have had throughout the years. Seeing students not only succeed with their goals, but go above and beyond them, reminds me how important it is to learn. For a student to feel confident in their Kumon journey, and in their other academic endeavors, is of insurmountable value, and I have seen first hand the impact Kumon can have. I believe in the program, as I have myself been a Kumon parent: both my daughters took both subjects.

A huge part of the work we are able to do is thanks to our committed staff, without them there would be no center. They are all so invested in students' success and that makes all the difference.

Biography and Background

I studied at the University of Alberta, then I went to teach English in Italy before moving back to Canada, so education has always been an essential part of my life. I love to read and learn new things, I would be a full time student if I could be! One of my favorite books of all time is Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I enjoy doing puzzles, hiking, swimming and playing games (indoors and outdoors) with my two daughters.
