Student of the month for December 2022: Baldwin

baldwin

Congratulations to our student for the month of December: Baldwin.

Baldwin started his Kumon journey in June 2019 with the Reading Program, and started math in February of 2020, both while in Prekindergarten! He started on level 6A for reading, and now is currently on level D1. For math, he began on level 5A, and is now over halfway done level C. He is only in grade two but is doing grade 3 math and grade 4 reading.

Baldwin is above grade level for both subjects! What an amazing accomplishment. He is extremely dedicated and focused. He loves being challenged, he enjoys answering his worksheets as it makes him confident going to the next level. He is proud of himself being competitive and getting the work done correctly. His next goal is to get to the next level as excellently as he can.

The most direct positive effect he has felt is that can Kumon helps him improve retention and gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Baldwin is going to do great things in the future! We are so proud of him and so excited to see him continue to excel in the program overall, and in his daily work. Congratulations Baldwin!

Student of the month for November 2022: Olivia

olivia

We are proud to announce November's student of the month: Olivia.
Olivia reached level C by grade 1, which is a huge milestone and an outstanding achievement!

Olivia has been a Kumon student for almost a year now. She is in grade 2 and is currently more than halfway done C level math (multiplication and division). She started in 3A math back in November of 2021.

We love her dedication and willingness to learn, she is a pleasure to have in our class. She works diligently and efficiently, and is one of our most focused students!

Something Olivia enjoys about Kumon is the style of teaching and the easy way of explaining the concepts for students to understand.

Olivia is proud of herself for her progress and success in multiplications. She did not expect that she could grasp and understand it very quickly, and knowing the multiplication makes everything about division very easy.

Her next goal is to start formal division, while watching her alignment and focusing on where to put her quotients. And after that? The sky is the limit!

Student of the month for October 2022: Edwin

edwin

We would like to introduce October's student of the month: Edwin!
Edwin has been a Kumon student since may of 2016 (that is almost 6 and a half years!); when he started, he was on level B math and level 2A for reading. He is currently in grade 9 and completed the reading program in June of this year. In his photo he can be seen holding his award for completion. For math, he is on level L, with only 3 more levels to go, and then he will be a 2 subject completer. What an amazing Kumon path he has had so far!

When we asked Edwin what he was most proud of himself for, he said completing the reading program. His favourite story in the Kumon worksheets was Shakespeare's Hamlet, found in level L, and a story he found challenging was Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. For math, his favourite notion is factoring and working with quadratic equations, and something he found challenging was graphing parabolas.

Edwin's advice to other Kumon students is to be patient and work through the hard times. It will pay off, he says.
The most helpful and rewarding thing Kumon has taught him is to endure and work hard!
We are so proud of Edwin's hard work, resilience and dedication. We hope the program will serve him well in high school and in his future academic pursuits.

Student of the month for September 2022: Germaine

germaine

Germaine is currently in level G for math, and G1 for reading, so she has achieved algebra and grade 7 reading by grade 4! In her picture she is holding her G by 4 star for math, and for reading. Germaine started Kumon in 2019 at levels 3A for math and 2A for reading, and has shown amazing perseverance and commitment as she has gone through the levels. She is an exemplary student, both with her completion of weekly work, and attendance at the center.

We love seeing her at the center, as she is so independent and polite!

Her next challenge is completing J by 6 for math: reaching high school level material before the end of grade 6. We know she can achieve this goal! Congratulations Germaine.
