About the Instructor

My name is Raj Sagoo and I am the instructor and owner of the Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Edmonton Walker Lake Plaza. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Prior to becoming a Kumon Instructor, Raj was a licensed, certified teacher in Alberta, with several years of experience educating elementary students in both private and public school settings. Her education includes a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree from Concordia University of Edmonton. Prior to becoming a teacher, Raj worked as an Applications Analyst with various organizations in Alberta.

Both of Raj’s parents are retired teachers, so one can say that the field of education is in her DNA. From a young age, Raj’s passion has always been in education, and to serve the community through educating the leaders of tomorrow. She became a Kumon instructor as it allows her to focus on developing children’s self-learning abilities, through working with children in the local community who need assistance in both math and reading, increasing their self-confidence and skills.
