About the Instructor

Introduction

Mrs. Charlie Pugh is the Instructor for the Kumon Math and Reading Learning Center of Farragut. Before becoming an instructor in October 2019, Charlie worked as a Kumon assistant for 15 years. The Kumon Methods and theories have been proven effective time and time again as she has watched her students blossom over the years into becoming self-learners. She believes that the key to a child’s success is teaching them to build the right work skills and study attitude through the Kumon Program with independent learning.

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, Mrs. Charlie serves as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. She creates an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and she emphasizes the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of her students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, she has a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Charlie

Mrs. Charlie Pugh first began her Kumon experience when she was in high school. Mrs. Charlie needed volunteer hours for her Beta Club membership and happened to be nearby at a local shop when she saw the Kumon sign. She thought to herself, education is something important and just maybe they needed a volunteer. She went inside and met the instructor and it all developed from there. Mrs. Charlie says that Kumon has taught her more things than she thinks she could ever fully give back to the center.

Mrs. Charlie is also a mother of three children who all do Kumon Math and Reading both at home. She feels that her experience working at home with her own children enables her to have a unique perspective that can help parents adjust when starting Kumon and find the best ways to implement the program while doing the work at home.

Mrs. Charlie feels that parents are one of the largest factors in a child’s education. She is looking forward to working together with new families as well as her current students to watch the children grow as learners. Please do not hesitate to set up meetings where she can discuss your child’s progress. Mrs. Charlie urges parents to attend parent conferences regularly with feedback and open communications to help develop the children's educational strengths.
