About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

My family and I moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1997. I am originally from Brazil and have previously lived in Chicago and Mexico. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture and I am fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

My husband Roberto (currently an Instructor at the Kumon of Pompano Beach - East) and I have twin children, Danny and Stella, who are currently in college. They are the reason we got involved with Kumon.

We heard about Kumon while reading a newspaper article, and later from friends. Our children were introduced to Kumon when they were seven years old and we have seen the benefits in their math and reading comprehension skills, academic confidence, and study habits. We were so impressed with the method that I decided to open a Kumon Math and Reading Center in Fort Lauderdale, where I live. I underwent extensive training and testing in Chicago by Kumon North America, Inc. and became a Certified Math and Reading Instructor in 2003. I have helped students advance in their academic goals since then, and witnessed many success stories I can share.

I am a strong believer in the Kumon Method of Learning, where we focus on the whole child to develop a student that can master advanced concepts independently, and succeed in school and in life. I am very proud to be able to offer this service in my community, and I look forward to working with you and your child/children.

Training and Certification

I have been a Kumon Instructor since November 2003.

As part of my qualifications to become your child's instructor, I originally went through training by Kumon's training department, located in Chicago, IL at that time.

Currently, to further develop my instruction skills, I attend monthly Kumon Instructor meetings and participate in 2 voluntary study groups, in math and in reading.

Ultimately, my passion in working with children highly motivates me to do my best to help my students achieve academic success.
