Ms. Carol is the Kumon Instructor for both Kumon of Harker Heights and Kumon of Waco. She has been a full licensed math and reading Kumon Instructor since 2017. Over the years, Ms. Carol has instructed many early learners to read and write and reach multiplication and division by end of 1st grade, which in Kumon is also known as C by 1. In addition, 70% of all her students are studying above grade level. Many of her students reach Algebra before end of 4th grade also known as G by 4, and studying Algebra II and Pre-Calculus before end of 6th grade, also referred as J by 6. Year after year, Ms. Carol has watched her students sweep the Academic Rodeo at Heart O' Texas Fair and UIL competitions. In 2019, her student was one of 56 students selected to attend Kumon's 3rd Annual Student Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The same student tied for 7th at the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee at Walt Disney World. Besides academic achievements, Ms. Carol has seen her students juggle school and Kumon while competing in baseball, football, tennis, competitive cheer and dance, etc. As an instructor, it is imperative that Ms. Carol creates an individualized study plan and projection for each student to ensure academic success while balancing their after-school activities and/or home life. Ms. Carol believes every child has the potential to succeed. Her mission is to help all students in Central Texas to acquire a strong foundation and become confident, independent, self-learners.
These past couple of years during the pandemic and winter storm, Ms. Carol like so many parents are disheartened by the disruption of school for our children. Determined to continue educating all of her Kumon students, Ms. Carol never wavered in providing her families weekly curriculum and offering virtual classes to facilitate. On May 4, 2020, Ms. Carol was the 1st center in Texas and 2nd center in US to re-open and offer a safe learning environment for in person classes. During the pandemic, Ms. Carol was featured in the 2nd 2020 issue of the Voice, Kumon magazine for instructors, presented to her colleagues in the US North East and South Region on safe practices during COVID, and interviewed by KCEN and KWTX TV on how to get kids back on track and prevent COVID and Summer Slide. In addition, Ms. Carol is a proud Diamond Partner of Midway ISD Education Foundation since 2016 and look forward to partnering with Killeen ISD. Ms. Carol is determined to use the Kumon method to fill any learning gaps and ultimately fulfill our Founder, Toru Kumon's aspiration of maximizing the potential of each individual.
Ms. Carol is an avid black diamond skier, enjoys mountain biking, running and tennis during her time off. She is also a proud Kumon Parent to Emily, a high school Freshman cheerleader at College Station High School, and Connor Paull, a black diamond skier and tennis player in intermediate school. Both of her children have been enrolled in Kumon since the age of 5. To see your children enjoy learning and doing well in school is the biggest testament to the Kumon method.
