About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Dr. Vijay Vemuri

I have a life-long commitment to academics. I hold an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and did my graduate work in accounting and operations research. I have obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Decision and Information Sciences. I have been able to teach for several decades at the university level, including at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, Hofstra University, and Quinnipiac University. I have published extensively in scholarly journals including the European Journal of Operational Research. My research focuses on the impact of advances in information technology on business decisions using sophisticated econometric methods to analyze economic data. 

In this new endeavor as a Kumon instructor, I strive to impart proper work habits and work skills to younger students to help them succeed in their college-level education.
