Harrison's Story
Harrison came to Kumon of Hockessin when he was in 3rd grade, years ago. He was enrolled in a local Charter school with a rigorous academic workload, and his parents knew he would need supplemental support to stay at grade level. Through researching the Kumon method and meeting with Miss Sonali, Harrison's parents knew Kumon was the right fit. Starting at basic levels in Math and Reading, Harrison pursued his Kumon work every day for seven years. Now, he is in 11th grade and playing basketball as well as running track, all while balancing his academics successfully.
"Kumon has definitely helped him navigate balancing academics and sports as he enjoys his high school career," says Harrison's father. Harrison completed the reading program in December 2020, and still working through pre-calculus, which he hopes to finish soon. The Kumon method has helped build a strong work ethic in Harrison, as well as critical time management skills that will help him in his college career.
Kendall's Story
Kendall and her sister came to Kumon with the hopes of building confidence in math and reading prior to applying to high school. Through daily worksheets and a commitment to the Kumon method, Kendall and her sister learned time management and self discipline. Miss Sonali coached them through the skills needed to excel on high school application exams, and both sisters now attend the top high school in the state, Charter School of Wilmington!
