About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to Kumon Math and Reading Center of Huntington-North. For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program.

Class Procedures

  • Students will be expected to come to class twice per week at a mutually agreed time.  If you need to change days/times, please let us know at least one week in advance so that we can do our best to accommodate your request.
  • Students can expect to spend approximately 30 to 40 minutes per subject in class.  This is to allow sufficient time to complete their daily classwork, as well as correct any mistakes on their classwork/homework
  • Students are asked to arrive at the Center ready to complete their work at their scheduled time.  We do our best to accommodate families who cannot make it to class on their scheduled time.  However, students who arrive 15 minutes after their allotted time slot may not be able to complete their entire assignment at the Center, or may be required to pick up work to take home for that day
  • In the event of an absence, we ask that your child's classwork/homework is picked up from the Center.

 Parent Waiting Area
  • While classes are in session, parents are advised to remain in the Parent Waiting Area.  It is important that we allow our students to complete their work independently.
  • While you are waiting for your child, please be courteous and keep voices low in the Parent Waiting Area.
  • Please pick up your child promptly.  For our students' safety, no child is to wait alone under any circumstances.
