About the Instructor

Introduction

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Xiaohui Zeng (Angela) MD & PhD

Welcome!

I am Dr. Zeng, your Instructor at Kumon of Issaquah-Gilman.  I received my M.D. degree from the West China University of Medical Sciences (where I was a physician and assistant professor) and I received my Ph.D. degree from Dokkyo Medical University in Japan.  I tutored students while working as a Senior Research Scientist at Seattle Children's Research Institute.

I have a true passion for education and helping children.  Therefore, after learning how Kumon could help children succeed not only in the classroom, but also in life, I resigned from my position as a scientist to pursue a career as a Kumon Instructor. The Kumon Method began with a parent’s love, and empowers students to become self-learners. Primary Instruction, (Kumon’s work skill development training) along with well-designed worksheets puts students on the path to become confident, independent, and self-reliant.  I absolutely love working with children and am motivated to help each of my students succeed.

As a mother to a wonderful son, I truly understand the need for establishing a firm foundation for a child early on.  Math and reading are the foundations for all subjects, and to have mastery of these two area sets the stage for learning . Whether your interest in our program is for enrichment or remedial services, your child will experience success right from the start, and progress at the just-right level.  If we can give our children the tools to succeed early on in life, it will positively affect their self-esteem and overall ability to reach their potential.

I have been thoroughly trained in the Kumon Method and receive ongoing development and training. I study the worksheets closely, learning the fine details of the program, so that I can give my students the best experience possible.
