About the Instructor

One of the great advantages of Kumon is that we are an individualized program of study, meaning that I can tailor the curriculum to suit your child's needs. If more time is needed for understanding of certain concepts or better development of study skills, we practice a little more. When it's time to advance, there's no constraint; your child moves on. This program is a terrific supplement to traditional school, where students increase confidence, improve concentration, and develop better study skills.

Hello! My name is Leena Agrawal.

I am a native of India, who moved to Johnson City, TN in 1999 after getting married to my husband. I obtained a master’s degree in Computer Science from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in 2003. I worked as a Software Engineer for 10 plus years in tri-cities. I wanted to share with you what led me to both enrolling my children into Kumon Math and Reading program and becoming a Kumon franchise owner. 

My children are my inspiration, and their education is extremely important to me. I enrolled my children into Kumon to help strengthen their reading and math skills. What I received as a result was immeasurable. I remember my daughter was in 5thgrade doing 9th-10th grade level of work. Today, she is a Kumon program completer, got a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, and got a full scholarship to Emory University in Atlanta. I truly believe that Kumon made her independent and a high achiever. That truly inspired me to bring my children’s experience to other children in my community who may lack self-esteem. 

After a decade of working as an employee, I was ready for a career change. I started looking at Kumon as a way to accomplish my goal of having my own business and helping children of all ages become confident self-learners. Today, I am the proud owner and instructor of the Kumon Math and Reading Centers of Kingsport and Johnson City.
