About the Instructor

My name is Trung Tran and I am the certified Kumon instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Lomita. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

I was an aerospace engineer before becoming a Kumon Instructor. My last position was a principal systems engineer for emergency power systems in fighter jets. I was inspired to open a Kumon Center to help Lomita students develop confidence and independence, not just in math and reading, but in everyday life. The benefits of the Kumon Method helped my children succeed in college and to be independent. I want Lomita students to get the same benefits from the Kumon method that my children experienced.

I received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawaii and the holder of seven US patents in aerospace.

I was accepted to attend Kumon training classes at the Kumon University in New Jersey and was certified as Kumon Instructor.
