Modified Center Operations for Kumon of Lowell

Updated on May 29th, 2020

Due to the pandemic, we are continuously monitoring and updating our best practices to ensure the safety of our students, families, and community. We are currently operating with limited center hours but are available online.

New Students:
If you are interested in enrolling in Kumon, please make an appointment using our online scheduler for a FREE online parent orientation. The meeting lasts about an hour and we will cover the pros and cons of the program with regards to your requirements. Additional online meetings will be scheduled afterwards to continue the enrollment process.

Only a limited number students/parents will be allowed into the center waiting room for placement tests and worksheet help. ALL in center visits must be scheduled for a predetermined date and time with the instructor in advance. This notice will be updated every month according to the current guidelines at the time. We routinely wipe down surfaces after every meeting and have a weekly professional sanitization service in place. Everyone must wear masks and use the sanitizer in the room.

Monday: Virtual Class 3:30pm to 7:30pm (All Levels; Classes held online on Zoom)
Tuesday: Worksheet and Book drop off 2:00pm to 6:00pm (Drive Thru only)
Thursday: Virtual Class 3:30pm to 7:30pm (All Levels; Classes held online on Zoom)

NOTE: Attending classes online regularly is very important. Instructor observations are a key component to planning and progressing our students. Without this very valuable piece of information, it is not possible to develop appropriate lesson plans. So, please make sure that your children are able to attend these classes twice a week during the time specified above. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the instructor directly.

Worksheet Pick Up:
At this time, Kumon of Lowell will be providing worksheets for a full month. June 26thand July 24th will be the next dates for pick-up. We are beginning to hand out weekly work to some of our families that are more comfortable routine. We are providing these earlier than you will need to allow you time to quarantine the package before having to use it. The work is prepared by three employees who follow strict sanitizing protocol. All worksheets are new and placed in new envelopes. All worksheets are produced by Kumon North America in Kentucky.

Based on several studies that have been conducted, the virus can stay on paper for up to 4 days. We provide enough time for you to quarantine worksheets up to 4 days before they are handled by the next person.

We provide touchless pick up and advise you to keep the work quarantined in your garage or elsewhere for up to 4 days before you use them.

Worksheet Drop Off:
We encourage parents to drop off worksheets every Tuesday between 2pm and 6pm when Ms. Srividya will be at the center. Kumon of Lowell requests you pack worksheets in the envelopes provided during pick up, with your child’s name clearly written, drive through the back of the building, and place it in the tall black bins located near the back doors.

All returned worksheets will be quarantined and sanitized in the bins for 4 days before any grader will begin grading. Data entry into our system is done by a separate person, so work will be quarantined for another 4 days before entering. We expect a full turn around of about 2 weeks before homework can appear on our recording software and be available electronically to the Instructor (and on request to parents thereof). It could take longer.

Other Meetings:
All in person interactions, such as, class monitoring and feedback, Parent Conferences, and Parent Orientations have moved to online ZOOM meetings. We continue to encourage parents to book their appointment online and Ms. Srividya will email you the Zoom link for your meeting.

Thank you for supporting Kumon of Lowell during these challenging times. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Your safety is our top priority. Please reach out to us with any questions/comments so we may provide the best service possible.
