Atlantis Frost
My goal in life has always been to learn first, and then to educate others. I feel compelled to share my love of math and science with the next generation. Prior to Kumon, I tried many different careers including rock musician, corporate sales, and retail management. Ultimately, I wasn't happy with any of them. In my thirties, the birth of my son Lucien, gave me the confidence to go back to school to finish my degree. I revere Kumon because the Kumon method provides children with the confidence they need to achieve their goals. Over my 4 years working as the Chief Assistant at Kumon of Austin West, and now as the Instructor at Kumon of Leander Northeast, I have seen the positive impact of our curriculum with hundreds of children. I see the capacity for excellence in every student and feel fortunate to be a part of every child's success. No one should wait a lifetime to pursue their dreams - every child has potential!
In 2016, I moved to Austin from Chicago, Illinois for a PhD in Physical Chemistry at the University of Texas. I have a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northeastern Illinois University. In Chicago, I was a math and science tutor for the City Colleges of Chicago for 6 years. I taught chemistry workshops for the Colleges and was a learning assistant for various science courses. My research as a physical chemist at the University of Texas included ultra-fast spectroscopy of molecular semiconductors and other spectroscopic investigations. I taught various chemistry courses at the University. I was also the principal investigator of the Chemistry Demonstrations Laboratory, where I performed demonstrations as outreach to the Austin community.
