Alex O'Brien
I am the Director and Lead Instructor at Kumon of Liberty Hill. I graduated from Trinity University with a BS in Business Administration with a major in Mathematics. I was a high school mathematics teacher for 18 years, most recently in Liberty Hill ISD & Leander ISD, and have taught Algebra 1 through AP Calculus BC.
During my tenure, I have been a department chair, written curriculum, served on several curriculum committees, coached academic UIL & Academic Decathlon teams, served as a mentor to both students and teachers, and was selected to be an AP Reader.
I am supported at home by my wife, Luisana, and my boys, Aiden & Mason. We are native Texans and moved to Liberty Hill in 2021. Outside of the classroom, I am an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, love to travel with my family, and enjoy helping with my kids’ activities!
I have a passion for education and working with kids. As a teacher, I saw many students struggle due to gaps in fundamentals, lack of customized resources, and the overall need for more support outside of the classroom. Most recently, the pandemic has created an even bigger hurdle for students due to so much time missed from school and in-person instruction. Kumon of Liberty Hill was founded to be a solution to this critical need. Our program will meet each child where they are and help them reach their full potential. The Kumon staff and I are committed to serving our community through education.
