About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Mr. Nic - Madison's Certified Kumon Instructor

Welcome to our center in Madison, NJ! The students here call me Mr. Nic. I was a Kumon apprentice at the Madison center since my family first opened the doors in October 2016. During my high school years, I worked alongside my dad, Mr. Kit, the Madison Kumon Instructor, for the past 8 years in Madison.

I graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM and my Master’s degree in Math Education on a 5-year full scholarship. During my time student teaching, I realized I was limited in my ability to help the students in a public-school setting reach their full potential. Shortly after graduating, I realized Kumon was where I wanted to be because of the larger impact I could have within the community! I want to be able to inspire as many children as possible and help them be the best versions of themselves academically as well as being well-rounded individuals with strong life skills like time management, focus, organization, responsibility, and self-learning with confidence. During the pandemic in 2021, I opened the Kumon center in Morristown, NJ while still working along-side Mr. Kit at the Madison Kumon center. Today, we have merged the Morristown and Madison centers, and I am so lucky to have my dad, Mr. Kit, working alongside me as my mentor and partner. In addition, my sister, Ms. Aja, who was a former Kumon student, manages Madison’s entire marketing and center operations as well as interacts with all families who enter the center. Ms. Aja graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing on a 4 year scholarship in May 2024, thanks to her time with Kumon as a student. Ms. Wai, my mother, is the Administrator who helps to ensure all families enrolled in Madison have everything they need to start the program. Additionally, she assists in answering all questions, concerns and makes sure everyone is satisfied with their service during their time with us. We are truly a small family business who want to give back to the community!

My goal for all the students enrolled at the Madison center is very simple - success with the program from day one. On day one of class, we will personally meet with new students and parents on the methodology and best practices of the Kumon method to ensure consistency and success are both in the classroom and at home! Helping students build strong foundations with the love of learning through the Kumon methodology and best practices will lead to great success in everything our students do with increased confidence and is the reason why I am dedicated and involved in the Kumon brand. I believe consistent communication with students and parents is the key to success at our center.
