CJ

C.J .came to my center at the age of 10. He had already overcome so many physical handicaps that were associated with his genetic disorder, but because of a mom who loved him and believed in him, she knew C.J. could do more than what the medical books were telling her. C.J. could not read and could barely write his initials, C.J. He could only add with a number line, and had never seen subtraction at the age of 10. He enrolled in my center at the beginning levels of Kumon in both subjects. He was faithful to complete his daily assignments. I am happy to say he is still enrolled in the reading program and his current level is F1, and he completed up to double digit multiplication in level D in the math program. He fully reads and writes something that other kids with his genetic disorder can rarely do. I am so proud of C.J., but more so, I am in awe of his mother’s love who continues to give her son an opportunity that takes hard work, courage, and perseverance. Linda, his mother, has worked for me for 4 years, and she is irreplaceable.

Max

One thing that makes my Kumon day start off on the right foot is when I see Max walk in the door.  There is no complaining about how tired he is or that he had a bad day at school -  only smiles from Max!  He greets me with, "Hi Ms. Shari!", and then off he goes to get his work.  I remember the first day that I met Max and his grandma.  I was told that Max was in the autism spectrum, but he really wanted to learn and his family was so eager to find a program for Max to learn to read.  Well, here we are a few years down the road and Max is in reading comprehension and in multiplication in math.  I am confident that without Kumon and the sacrificial love of Max's dad and grandparents, Max would not be where he is today.  We are preparing for a bright future for Max and it is a team effort! Max...if you are reading this, I am so glad to be on Team Max!  Sky is the limit for you! Never stop learning and smiling!  I am so proud of you!  Ms. Shari
