Parent Waiting Area
- Parents/guardians must remain in the designated waiting area for the duration of their child's class.
- For parents with Early Learners (Grade 1 and below), we ask that you do not leave the Centre while your child is in the class. Kumon is not responsible for your child's whereabouts once they exit the Kumon Centre.
- Early Learner students are not allowed to wait for their parents in the waiting area and will be asked to wait in the allocated area in the classroom for pick-up.
Absences
- If you anticipate an absence for your child's class, please call us as soon as possible.
- You are always welcome to drop by the centre to pick up your child's work and take it home. Your child's work will also be left outside the Kumon Centre doors after class hours. You may collect it at your earliest convenience.
- If you anticipate an extended absence (ex. vacation), you must notify the centre one month in advance.
Class Schedules
- Early Learner students must obey a scheduled start and end time for their classes. You will be able to discuss a time slot with the Instructor upon enrollment.
- While there is no penalty for lateness, we would like to remind you that lateness will result in a loss of additional activities and enrichment that your child receives during class hours.
- Each subject has a 30-minute time slot. If your child does 2 subjects, their class is 1 hour.
Home Study and Home Grading
Students complete daily assignments at home on non-class days. They will do a minimum of 1 booklet of each subject a day. We recommend that students complete this work in one sitting, at a consistent time.
Please have your child work in a quiet area, free from distractions.
For best results, it is important that students do their assignments as they would in the Kumon classroom. The student's hand should be placed on their worksheets during completion. Students should remain seated for the duration of their assignment, as they would in a classroom. In addition, please write the student’s name on the first page, alongside an accurate start and end time. All pages should be neatly organized and stacked during completion. All work should be stored in the student’s Kumon pouch to be returned to the center during their scheduled class.
Students should arrive to class prepared with a sharpened pencil, an eraser, and their completed homework, all organized in their Kumon pouch.
Answer books are provided for at-home marking and should be kept in a safe place, not accessible to students. Once marked, the child should erase and correct all errors. The correction process is key to overall success. Please return all previous answer books.
