About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your student through their work while also providing direction, support, and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

I grew up in the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Mukilteo, first as a student, then employee and business manager. As a student in the Center, I completed both the Math and Reading programs. After high school, I pursued professional training in firefighting, emergency medical services, adult education, and medical training compliance management. I served the community as an EMT, a firefighter, and as an agency’s medical supervising officer. When my partner, Amanda, and I started our family, I returned to the Center as the Business Manager and Lead Assistant. I am also a Kumon parent myself, with all four of my children enrolled in the Center.

My family has operated the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Mukilteo since 1997. Over those years, I have seen the amazing opportunities that Kumon has afforded students and their families. Being an autodidact myself, and often relying on my own skills as a self-learner, the Kumon Method has significantly influenced my successes and opportunities in life.

As the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Mukilteo Instructor, it is my privilege to help foster that same development of confidence and success in many more generations of Kumon students to come.
