Mike Chan, JD/MBA
My name is Mike Chan, Instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Menlo Park - Downtown. It is very fulfilling to help students at all stages and levels – whether they readily achieve Kumon academic levels beyond their current grade level – or are working towards building their academic foundation and confidence.
All my education has coincidentally been from the California Bay Area. I received a JD from Santa Clara University, an MBA from San Jose State University, and a BA, Sociology from UC Berkeley.
As a law student, I was an Instructor for Fresh Lifelines for Youth, Inc. (FLY), a nonprofit organization committed to working with teenage youths who are in the juvenile justice system to inspire them to change the trajectory of their lives and build their skills through legal education, training, and mentoring.
My early experience after graduating was as Director of Administrative Services for San Andreas Regional Center, a community-based nonprofit serving children and adults with developmental disabilities, including autism and cerebral palsy. I’ve also worked in the biopharmaceutical field for large sponsors as well as a couple of startups.
I have a 7 and 9 year old progessing through the program. Both started before turning 3 years old. It is such a joy to be able to experience Kumon with our own kids while sharing the Kumon Program with the families in our community. If you are interested in our Kumon Program, please reach out to set up an orientation.
