About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Hello! My name is Lizet Cortez and it is my pleasure to serve as your certified Kumon instructor for the Mission-Sharyland center. I have dedicated much of my career to working with children. I am a certified teacher and principal and worked in the public schools for 16 years. After teaching for 3 years, I pursued my Master’s in Educational Leadership and begin my role as an assistant principal in 2016. I was introduced to Kumon when I was searching for educational franchises that would support our students reach their academic goals, specifically in the area of Reading & Math. The inspiring and admirable achievement results the Kumon Method produces truly is amazing! Seeing both the positive changes in student's academics and an increase in their confidence inspired me to seek out the opportunity to become a Kumon Instructor. One word that is used when describing me as an educator is passionate and my vision is to continue to lead with the same passion for all children at my center and unlock their potential. I am excited to help more children become independent learners and gain confidence that will allow them to pursue any path in life as lifelong learners.
