Introduction

Our students, ranging from preschool through Grade 12, develop the skills that help them build upon each concept they learn. With individualized learning plans, motivation and practice, our centre prepares students to become avid learners, encouraging success throughout their entire academic experience and beyond.

Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn

As a Kumon Instructor, I have had many success stories over the years where students have excelled not only in their Kumon programs (completing the Math and/or Reading programs while still in elementary school), but also successfully applying their knowledge and self-confidence in many areas of endeavor.

One of these successes involved twin girls, Mercedes, and Phoenix Arn-Horn, both of whom graduated from the Kumon Reading Program at my centre in 2008 at the age of 14. By that time, they had also written and published one short story and two full-length novels. Phoenix's 'The Cat Who Was A Hero' was published in 2004 when she was only ten years old. Their novels, 'The Battle for Hedgehog Castle' (Mercedes) and 'Stalik and the Army of Zin' (Phoenix), were published when they were both twelve and received much critical acclaim.

The twins are also classically trained and accomplished musicians. With their pop group 'Courage My Love,' they have toured the world several times and released many CDs and singles of their composed works. They have even received a nomination for a Juno award.

The discipline encouraged by their time in Kumon has helped to pay dividends in the success of their continuing careers.
