About the Instructor
Welcome to Kumon of Palm Bay! My name is Ashley Luke, but I go by Mrs. Ashley or Mrs. Luke, and I will be your child's or children's Kumon Instructor.
I grew up in Rockland County, New York and attended Buffalo State College where I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I then attended Long Island University-Brooklyn and received a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
I first discovered Kumon as a nine-year-old student. After I returned from India, I was enrolled in Kumon by my parents from my 4th grade year until reaching high school. After graduating high school, I applied for a job at the same Kumon I attended and was hired as a grader. I was so happy to be working where there had been such a positive influence on my own education because I wanted to contribute to the betterment of young people. I wanted to be part of the Kumon process of enriching and empowering students to believe in themselves and to have confidence. Within a year, my boss told me that she recognized my passion and asked me if I wanted to be her main assistant. I felt so blessed and told her that I believed Kumon was my vocation.
I met my husband shortly after that and learned that he ran a Kumon center in Satellite Beach, FL. It was a perfect match. We had been working out plans for me to move to Florida to be near him, so I looked for opportunities to continue working in my Kumon career. I began working as the main assistant at Kumon of Satellite Beach while exploring opportunities to open a Kumon center on my own. It was then that I learned that a center was for sale in Palm Bay, Florida. Everything was working out! I had a vision for how I wanted to run a Kumon, for how I could help enrich the lives of Kumon students, and for how I could contribute to my community and society through educating our future generation. This was my chance to begin my dream of being a Kumon Instructor.
I applied for the instructor position and attended the Training Center of Kumon North America, Inc. and became a certified Kumon Instructor. After months of training, completing worksheets, and taking tests I was finished with my initial training, but I knew the real learning was just getting started.
Every student teaches me how to be a better instructor. There is just as much to learn from children as there is to teach them. Using the Kumon Method to instruct shows me how to guide students while giving them room to mature. I look forward to working with your family and your students to help deliver the Kumon Method in the best way possible. Thank you!
