About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

As the Owner/Instructor of the Kumon Math & Reading Center of Palm Coast, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth Schiefelbusch, known at the center as Ms. Elizabeth. I am excited to work with you as a team to ensure that our students reach their full potential.

Prior to joining Kumon, I was an educator in varying disciplines for over 20 years. My journey as an educator has given me a lot of experience. I was an RTI, SPED, and substitute teacher at an elementary school in central Indiana, working with students from kindergarten to 5th grade. At one point, I was employed at the International School of Indiana, where I instructed students as young a three years old in a dual language curriculum. I worked for several tutoring companies, teaching middle school and high school students in the subject areas of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Finite Math, Pre Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, SAT Prep Courses, ACT Prep Courses, and French. I taught College Algebra courses at Indiana University and at Ivy Tech Community College. The students that I have taught range in age from three years old to adults in college.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Literature and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from Indiana University. Thus, I am passionate about both literature and math, I love that I can offer both reading and math to my students here at Kumon. At Kumon, we instruct students as young as three years old and up to the 12th grade, including all ages in between. Our reading curriculum starts with the alphabet and ends with Shakespeare. Our math curriculum begins with counting numbers and ends with calculus. But, of course, learning doesn't stop here, as learning is a lifelong journey! 

In preparation to be a Kumon Instructor, I trained intensively at Kumon University and worked at my center under the previous owner before taking over. The training and hands-on experience, with the wonderful students that I inherited, enabled me to understand and value the Kumon method. I am a firm believer that this program works!!

My pledge: Kumon of Palm Coast will aim to provide students with the confidence, education, motivation, guidance, and encouragement to become the best version of themselves.
