About the Instructor

Introduction

As extensively trained and certified professionals, Kumon Instructors serve as mentors who guide your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. They create individualized at-home study plans, monitor classroom assignments and emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. Instructors also work to set personalized goals with their students and keep them motivated to achieve. This has helped many of our students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant learners. Kumon Instructors have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Instructor Susan Tran

Susan Tran has been a part of Kumon since September 2015. First brought on board as a reading specialist at a local Kumon Center, Susan advanced over the years into the role of Chief Instructional Assistant for both Math and Reading subjects. Having both experienced and witnessed the positive impact that the Kumon Method made on the lives of her students, their families, herself and others, her love of teaching and the successes of her students inspired her to open a new Kumon Center in Petaluma in 2021.

"It has been my immense pleasure getting to know each child’s strengths, needs and motivations, and having the tools and knowledge to help create opportunities for them to succeed. The program works to unlock each person’s full potential, and it does this with undeniable success. Kumon has elevated so many of my attributes, including my patience, kindness, knowledge, understanding and passion. Every day is a lesson that there is always a reason to smile, an opportunity to grow, more to learn, more to achieve, and nothing to fear. This is an attitude that I have been able to own and share with my students, and my aim is to continue spreading this positive thinking and methodology to those in our community."
