Josie’s Story
Josie is 10-years-old, studying three years above her grade level in the Kumon Program. In fact, she’s studying the same math material that her mom, who is an eighth grade teacher, teaches her students. Imagine that, a 10-year-old transforming equations, working with linear functions and simplifying monomials and polynomials. She’s well on her way to advanced algebraic expressions and she isn’t even in middle school yet.
One of the things that Josie likes most about Kumon is the fact that she’s studying above her grade level.
“Kumon gives me confidence because I know how strong of a student it has made me,” says Josie. “I know that I can do and learn anything if I do the work and practice daily. Kumon has taught me about the importance of focusing and to not be afraid of challenges, but to enjoy them and work through them because I know I can overcome anything.”
Josie embodies everything that Toru Kumon had in mind when he founded the Kumon Method. He felt that students would experience the true benefits of the Kumon Method if they acquired the study habits necessary for self-learning and advanced study.

Ashwanth
Ashwanth joined Kumon in January 2015 in Minneapolis. We then moved to Florida in August, and since then, Ashwanth has studied at Kumon of Plantation - Cleary Blvd. When we moved, he was on subtraction, and at present January of 2016, Ashwanth is working on division. We are happy to see his tremendous progress and growth in the last few months. Thanks to Ms. Liv and her staff who are so caring and encouraging and motivating him to move ahead.

Reading Program Completer
From Mrs. Camilla:
I learned about Kumon from a friend. She knew we wanted our daughter to achieve excellence academically. We registered her in the summer of 3rd grade. We started to see improvement right away when she was in 4th grade by being a straight A student. By 5th grade she was selected for the math team representing the school and invited to be in the GEM program for middle school. In 6th grade she was attending advance classes, honor classes, and Math GEM classes. By the 7th grade, Duke TIP invited her to be in the 7th grade Talent Search. She received an SAT score which allowed her to start doing college classes in 8th grade.
Ella’s progress has been exceptional and we are so proud of her for completing the Kumon Reading Program. Thanks to the Kumon Program and the dedication of Mrs. Liv and her staff. We are incredibly pleased for all the wonderful work and patience of the staff. They taught her also to persevere and dream big.
Thank you, Mrs. Liv.
From Ella:
Before I started Kumon, I had trouble in school and always needed extra help. When I started Kumon, it made me go above and beyond in school. I started to see that my schoolwork was becoming easier and my grades improved drastically. I always tried to implement Kumon strategies in my schoolwork, and it helped tremendously. By doing my Kumon worksheets every day since third grade, it has made me feel so much more confident in school. Ms.Liv did not let me quit and she helped me persevere even through the pandemic. I thank Kumon and Mrs. Liv and all the other teachers for all the amazing opportunities that I have received and for making me a better student.
