My name is Roberto Marujo and I am your Instructor at Kumon of Pompano Beach - East.
I moved to Fort Lauderdale with my family in 1997. We have previously lived in Chicago, Mexico and Brazil. I speak English, Spanish and my native language is Portuguese. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of São Paulo in Brazil and an Executive MBA from the University of Miami.
My wife Tania and I have twin children Danny and Stella, who are in college. I really enjoy working with children. I have volunteered as a coach in the Fort Lauderdale soccer program for 8 years. Also, I have participated in the Indian Princess and Indian Guides for 6 years, which are programs that unite many dads and daughters, and dads and sons for camping and social events.
I heard about Kumon while reading a newspaper article, and later from friends. I enrolled my two children in the program when they were 7 years old and have seen the benefits in their math, reading comprehension skills, academic confidence, and study habits. We were so impressed with the Kumon Method that my wife opened her Kumon Math and Reading Center in Fort Lauderdale in 2003 and she still continues to help students advance in their academic goals in that location. I have been actively involved in supporting her and her students to pursue their academic potential.
Although most of my life I’ve worked in the corporate world, education is a passion of mine. The time came when I decided to switch gears from the corporate world and follow my passion for education. I underwent extensive training and became a Certified Kumon Math and Reading Instructor. In October 2008, I decided to take over the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Pompano Beach - East that had already been in operation for 7 years.
I am a strong believer in the Kumon Method of learning, where we focus on the whole child to develop a student that can master advanced concepts independently and succeed in school and in life. I am very proud to be able to offer this service in my community, and I look forward to working with you and your child/children.
